Edgewood
INSIDER
Holiday 2006
By Carson Markus (Entertainment stylist and Indy film fan)
Happy Holidays! As I have said in the past, I was honored when asked to be the one chosen to compile and write on the inner details of the studio's workings, related stories, gossip, and upcoming projects for it's ever-expanding circle of fans and supporters. BUT - nothing has prepared me for the chaos surrounding Edgewood star ANNA NICOLE SMITH, who gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and lost her 20-year old son in a three-day period. I met her on the set of "ILLEGAL ALIENS" and cannot image the sense of loss and joy, of being on a rollercoaster in heaven and hell. She was a pleasure to meet and a it looked like she had a lot of fun on the set, was nice to all, and, I believe did some of her best work to date in the film. I am very sad for her and know everyone who really knows her shares my feelings.
However, in my opinion, the press, TV, Print, International - all have acted abominably in this tragic matter. She and HOWARD K. STERN are people like you and me. And the endless speculation and accusation by the media pundits make me sick.
The film, "Illegal Aliens" has received substantial attention due to the combination of joy, tragedy, and speculation as to who is the father of Anna's baby that has followed her around. I have seen some of "Illegal Aliens", it is hilarious and I hope it will be given a chance to find it's audience on it's own merits. Director DAVID GIANCOLA tells me that they will be dedicating the film to the memory of Daniel and that his spirit lives on in the irreverent humor in the film that Daniel loved so much.
He will not give me any information as to the release dates of the film, but he did confirm that he and Executive Producer JOHN JAMES are negotiating with a major studio for distribution. A first for Edgewood Studios!
On a happier note, "ZOMBIETOWN" is fast becoming a hit Internationally, with Producer ZORINAH JUAN also unable to tell me when the film will be released here in the U.S. due to its popularity. "We have so many offers and options, we have not set a release date yet" commented Juan "But we should have some info on the U.S. Premiere soon" The film is also starting to be scheduled at Horror and Sci-Fi film festivals and Conventions. If you haven't done it yet, go to the download page and check out the trailer. This film has cult hit written all over it!
I also had a neat chance to meet some of the crew of "STAR TREK - NEW VOYAGES", who have been renting Lighting and Grip services from New England Light & Grip at Edgewood. You really should check out their website, it is really like being transported back into the 60's original episodes! Line Producer Tasha Hardy has informed me they have recently completed the most recent episode; "World Enough and Time" starring GEORGE TAKEI. (Sulu from the original Star Trek television series and film sequels.)
The production was written and directed by Hollywood veteran Marc Zicree, who wrote season four of the television series STAR TREK: NEXT GENERATION. Look for them on line at http://www.startreknewvoyages.com/
That's it for this issue; if you have questions or comments about "The Insider", please e-mail them to mb(at)edgewoodstudios(dot)com (she will forward all messages directly to me). And please, let me know what any tidbits YOU have to share about Edgewood and it's films, cast and crew. We would love to hear from you.
Thanks and have a great Holiday Season!
