Edgewood INSIDER
Winter 2007
By Carson Markus (Entertainment stylist and Indy film fan)

Hello “Edgewoodies”! (I am trying out fan names like “Trekkies”, but maybe this is not it….) I hope you all had a safe and prosperous holiday season! Edgewood has quieted down lately as both of it’s features “ILLEGAL ALIENS” and “ZOMBIETOWN” have been completed and now there seems to be a lot of paperwork going on. There are many new projects in development but Mr. Giancola won’t give up any details except to say a sequel to the Edgewood cult classic “Time Chasers” is not so far-fetched of an idea but that’s about it, (and he gave me a big smirk when he said it) so who knows. What I DO know is that “ZOMBIETOWN” has been picked up for a major DVD release by MTI Home Video tentatively for this summer. In the buildup to the DVD release, Director Damon LeMay and Producer Zorinah Juan are going to give sneak previews at some upcoming Horror festival and conventions. I am told a Premiere date will be set soon and may take place at a festival. Right now though, Producer Juan is now worried that the film may not get an “R” Rating but maybe the dreaded “X” or will have to be released UnRated because of the film’s intense gore. “We have a couple of really shocking, really gross moments in the film”, Juan noted “We have a long sequence where we chainsaw a guy’s leg off, on-camera, and it’s played for dark comedy but at test screenings, for some people it was just wayyyy too intense.”

The Edgewood feature; “ILLEGAL ALIENS” just keeps getting more and more high profile with all the attention surrounding ANNA NICOLE SMITH. Entertainment Tonight even covered her while nursing her newborn for god’s sakes! For her fans, Executive Producer JOHN JAMES tells me that both baby and mother are doing well. (But father, HOWARD K. STERN is up three times a night for feedings…) As to the whole palimony business, who knows - but I did see that the “alleged dad” is now appearing in all those tabloids partying about town, obviously enjoying his 15 minutes of fame. In all the year-end wrap-ups of the news and entertainment shows, I was not surprised to see that Anna Nicole was the 4th Most Covered Celebrity in the World after only ANGELINA JOLIE, BRAD PITT, and TOM CRUISE! And the second most covered celebrity story! It seems a “no-brainer” to me that “ILLEGAL ALIENS” will be the biggest hit ever for Edgewood, (and I’ve seen it!). Directed by Studio owner Giancola, I don’t know how they could top this one. It is like Mel Brooks directed a Monty Python movie edited by George Lucas who was forced to work with Woody Allen as the screenwriter and Marylin Monroe as the star. It is simply the funniest film I have EVER seen!

Anyways, that’s about it. Winter is a clean-up and prep time for films to be shot in the summer so there has been a lot of repairing and new equipment coming into New England Light & Grip (they have a cool new Elemack Cricket Dolly that goes up and down as smooth as air).

Neat note about an Internet foul-up at the Edgewood On-Line store. Seems there was a glitch in the ordering software and many orders were not received until after the holidays. So Edgewood’s In-House Producer MARY BETH FRENCH sent each order (whether they kept the order in or not) a FREE T-Shirt as an apology. Now that’s classy! Mary Beth, way to go!

I hope you all have a great winter. Please pray for us to have SNOW here in Vermont, it has been really warm and dry here (it was 66 degrees at my place last weekend and I was getting a TAN! – This is Jan. 12th people!) We need SNOW for the tourist economy. Bye for now and I promise I will keep you updated on the goings on at Edgewood both in front of, and behind the screen!
