EDGEWOOD STUDIOS ANNOUNCES PRODUCTION OF
NEW FAMILY FEATURE TO BE FILMED IN VERMONT

Producer David Giancola and Vermont Film Comissioner
Joe Bookchin location scouting in Chester, Vermont
April 25th - Edgewood Studios President David Giancola announced today that his company, Edgewood Studios will begin production this spring on the family feature film "Mistletoe". The heartwarming story of how a broken family's reunion reignites the spirit of the Holiday Season in a small Vermont town. Production is slated tentatively to start prep on May 5th and begin filming on May 27th throughout Central Vermont for over a month.

The cast is yet to be announced but Giancola assures that many of the supporting cast members will be played by Vermonters. He encourages anyone interested in acting or playing an atmospheric performer, also known as "extras" in the film to check out more information at www.edgewoodstudios.com or call Mark Covino at Edgewood Studios at (802) 773-0510 to register contact information and availability.

The film is also looking for the participation of local chorus or singing groups as the film ends with the town joyously joining in song. In addition, as the production is covered by numerous Union guidelines, Giancola encourages any Vermont members of SAG (Screen Actors Guild)and IATSE Film Professionals unions to contact Edgewood as he is working closely with the Vermont Film Commission to network contacts to strengthen the state's infrastructure for film productions in the future.

You HAVE to go rent or buy this flick TONIGHT !
But don't take our word for it, read just a sampling
of some of what the critics have to say:

-"director-writer Damon LeMay shows true craft and wit by setting this picture somewhat apart from the rest of the undead cinematic hordes."
-Palace of Horror/Horror Society

-"It's that kind of dry roasted humor and irreverent spirit that seperate ZOMBIE TOWN from the other 8,000 straight-to-disc zombie flicks out there."
-The Den of Iniquity

-"a bloody massacre of a movie"
-Killer Films

-"a kickass second half of the film complete with zombie hordes, gross-out gore, and a dark vein of humor"
-Movie Cynics

-"The director (Damon Lemay) keeps the zombie action fast & furious with many gore filled details and a few jump in your seat "gotchas" that work."
-Zombie Movie Database

-"WOW, throw Slither in a blender with Rabid Grannies and Undead and it might come out looking like this. Zombie Town wastes no time diving face first into the juicy, meaty handfuls of gore and clips along at a good pace. The cast of characters actually look like real people and even includes a gaggle of good natured senior citizens who enthusiastically allow themselves to be covered in blood, vomit and slime galore. The acting on the whole is very good and the script down-to-earth witty. It has everything a zombie film should have!"

"ILLEGAL ALIENS" Screening at
the BAHAMAS INTERNATIONAL
FILM FESTIVAL
Becomes a night to remember!

"ILLEGAL ALIENS"
Director DAVID GIANCOLA
Edgewood Studio's Cult Hit "ILLEGAL ALIENS " recently had a hugely successful screening at the BAHAMAS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL with a raucous after-party featuring a live band playing local "scrape " Caribbean Music. The audience roared at the film's highly aware and sometimes outright goofy sense of humor. Afterward, an emotional Q & A session was held with the film's Executive Producer JOHN JAMES, ( "Dynasty ", "All My Children "), it's Director DAVID GIANCOLA, and longtime Attorney and close friend of the film's star ANNA NICOLE SMITH, HOWARD K. STERN.

Mr. Stern confirmed for audience members the intense creative participation both Anna and her son DANIEL SMITH had in the creation of the film. Mr. Stern also went so far to suggest that Anna Nicole would have pushed for an even more "edgy " cut of the film if she was still with us. He suggested aloud to Mr. James that he would like to one day see an "Anna Cut " of the film released.

BIFF Executive Director
LESLIE VANDERPOOL
and HOWARD K. STERN
Director Giancola confirmed that some of the extras released with the DVD of the film were changed in the wake of Anna and Daniel's death but noted that the current version of the film is one he considers completed. Regardless, Giancola mentioned that he might possibly release an "Anna Cut " of "Illegal Aliens " with Mr. Stern's help someday but at this time he feels that the public is not ready for an "Anna Cut ". "The public is way too overloaded, misinformed, and burnt-out with the media's opportunistic coverage of the tragedy surrounding Anna and Daniel's death that it would be impossible to release a stronger cut of the film now in the proper context " said Giancola, who added "This is a silly, culty comedy we all had a lot of fun making, we just wanted people to laugh, to lighten their burden. None of us were prepared for all the tragedy that happened after the film was finished. Then the media went nuts. "

In fact, the day after the screening, while regular media outlets like ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT and THE BAHAMAS WEEKLY.COM reported positive stories, the popular celebrity gossip website TMZ posted a factually inaccurate

JOHN JAMES, Executive Producer of "ILLEGAL ALIENS"
and snarky story about the screening. "This is the problem the film faces in finding it's audience - we held up the release as long as possible but are now still waiting for enough time to pass so audiences can laugh with and at Anna, which was her original intention in taking the role and re-working her lines to comment on and lampoon her public image. " added Giancola back in Vermont.
The Bahamian island of Nassau is where the film's star and her son sought refuge from the media and found solace, home, and ultimately a final resting place. "Illegal Aliens " is now out on DVD worldwide and Midnight Screenings of the film are planned for five major U.S. cities this summer. For more onBIFF go to; www.bintlfilmfest.com/

cannes_film_festThe Edgewood Studios Cult Hit "ILLEGAL ALIENS" took off at the world's most prestigious (and pretentious) film fest; CANNES!

The film screened on the 19th and 21st to a riotous reception attended by the film's Director DAVID GIANCOLA and Executive Producer JOHN JAMES. The film also dominated media coverage worldwide as no reporter could resist the dichotomy of titles as quoted by REUTERS NEWS AGENCY;

"...along the glamorous Croisette boulevard, from the (possibly)sublime - Angelina Jolie in "A Mighty Heart" about the kidnap and murder by Islamic militantsof U.S. reporter Daniel Pearl - to the (probably) ridiculous - "Illegal Aliens" starring the now-deceased Anna Nicole Smith - to the (certainly) serious - Leonardo DiCaprio's environmental documentary "The 11th Hour"."

ANNA NICOLE SMITH
1967-2007

All of us at Edgewood Studios are truly saddened by the tragic and sudden passing of our beloved friend and colleague Anna Nicole Smith. Our deepest sympathy to our dear friend Howard K. Stern, her beautiful daughter Dannielynn Hope and to all who loved her.

A VERY FUNNY NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM

Director Giancola creates a comic pile-up for a scene in "ILLEGAL ALIENS".

Edgewood owner and Director of  "ILLEGAL ALIENS" David Giancola held an informal lecture and sneak preview screening of the film on January 12th at the prestigious BENNINGTON MUSEUM
(Widely acknowledged as archiving the definitive collection of Grandma Moses Original Art works and papers and as one of the greatest repositories of Vermont Historical antiquities; www.benningtonmuseum.com).

The capacity crowd was "frankly not the film's demographic.." noted Giancola on the occasion, however the screening was a huge success. The audience was obviously wowed by the film and almost continuous laughter filled the halls after the opening credits. Afterwards, an obviously elated audience kept Mr. Giancola at the Museum until late into the night for a raucous question and answer session. "It totally blew away all of my expectations" noted one patron while all groaned at the lack of a locked release date for the film. (Edgewood is currently in negotiations with a number of competing distributors for the films release) "It is a brilliant and hilarious satire and comic deconstruction of everything from Sci-Fi films, to Hollywood, to the film's stars ANNA NICOLE SMITH and JOANIE LAURER themselves!" noted the Museum's Director. Earlier in the day, Giancola also showed selected scenes to students in the auditorium of the Mt. Anthony Union High School along with a lecture about Independent film. The verbal part of his program was cut short after the students cheered to see more of "Illegal Aliens" after the only the first six minutes of the film were shown. "I guess that's the best compliment the film can get, they changed the channel off of me an onto the film" said Giancola. The students loudly guffawed and applauded the film's ribald humor until the last bell changing classes rang and they had to be hearded out of the auditorium by their teachers - while Giancola leaned against the wall and smiled broadly at their response to the film.

"MEMO" Post-It Nightmare Shoots on Stage A

"MEMO" is one of five short films produced for Casella Waste Systems by the hot new production company; Dandy Dwarves. The production company utlized Edgewood's Stage A along with Light & Grip from NEL&G. The crew became especially fond of the studio's recent acquisition, the Elemack Cricket Dolly.

They quickly adapted it for their DV Camera, giving shots a "visual weight" normally found in 35mm Productions. "Each short film dealt with a particular topic that was to be discussed at an annual company leadership convention in Sagimore, New York." relayed Director Christian Simmons. The crew spent days at Edgewood setting up a "Sticky-Note" Nightmare. "The sticky-note piece that we filmed at Edgewood dealt with the topic of 'overload'" noted Producer Josh Lind The Production included:

Josh Lind - Producer
Christian Simmons - Director
Kevin Phillips - Director of Photography
Judge Dylan - Set Design / Actor
Colin Alexander - Sound Design
Jon Lynn - Crew

In Loving Memory of our blessed friend, Producer, Investor, and fellow Creative Partner:
DANIEL WAYNE SMITH
1/22/1986 - 9/10/2006

DANIEL SMITH passed away suddenly on the morning of September 10th. We at Edgewood Studios and everyone involved in the production of "ILLEGAL ALIENS" are beyond saddened.

Daniel was at the time Producing the film "ILLEGAL ALIENS" (his first) along with his mother Anna Nicole Smith and Edgewood. Ms. Smith also invested in the film in Daniel′s name. "This is something for Daniel′s future, and he is interested in working behind the camera" Ms. Smith stated. His contributions to "Illegal Aliens" far surpassed that of a normal Producer as his unique "Gen Y" sense of humor was constantly in demand on the set. The highly improvisational nature of the of the film's humor was greatly influenced by Daniel not just directly, but also in the support he gave his mother Anna in many of the film′s more daringly wacky moments. If Daniel laughed at it, we knew it was going in the film.

On September 7th his mother, Anna gave birth to a healthy 6 pound, 9 ounce baby girl. (There has been speculation as to the name chosen for this beautiful baby as well as to whom the father is but we will not be releasing any information on these facts as we have been asked by Ms. Smith to protect her privacy.) Daniel traveled from Los Angeles to the Bahamas to join her and share in the joy of his baby sister. He was with his beloved mother in the hospital in the Bahamas when he passed away on the morning of September 10th

*WE REQUEST PLEASE, FOR THE SAKE OF HIS GREIVING FAMILY AND FRIENDS THAT ALL MEDIA PLEASE REFRAIN FROM THE OUTLANDISH AND UNSUBSTANTIATED SPECULATION THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON SURROUNDING DANIEL'S DEATH. WHEN THERE ARE MORE ACTUAL FACTS IN THIS MATTER TO BE RELAYED, WE WILL POST THEM HERE OR THEY MAY BE RELEASED BY HOWARD K. STERN.

We will be dedicating "ILLEGAL ALIENS" in Daniel′s beloved Memory. He, and his mother both would want you remember him in the healing power of the laughter he gave us.

Burlington College Annual Film
Production Workshop/Retreat
continues its success at Edgewood

Once again Edgewood Studios hosted students from Burlington College's Film School and spent the weekend immersing them in "Real-World" film production techniques. As always the biggest discussions were the use of DV & Hi Def versus Film. (As you may know we shoot everything here on film, there are VERY good reasons...) In addition the students got one-on-one attention with working film professionals and hands-on experience with production equipment. They also had the benefit of witnessing the aftermath of the production of "Illegal Aliens"... feature film production is a chaotic and messy business and there is no hiding it...

Trailers and Clips

Creates a stir in Vermont as filming concludes

Principal photography of Edgewood's latest feature, the sci-fi/action/comedy "ILLEGAL ALIENS" starring ANNA NICOLE SMITH and former pro-wrestler JOANIE "CHYNNA" LAURER recently completed filming at Edgewood. While under production Vermont was abuzz about the presence of the stars and the large amount of media coverage including "A Current Affair", "Axcess Hollywood" and numerous other national media outlets.

The film, who's scripwas so strong that it pulled Edgewood head DAVID GIANCOLA out of semi-retirement from directing to helm the feature that is now in post-production. The buzz on the film is that it is hilarious and devastatingly satiric of both Sci-fi genre films and Hollywood action film clichès. More info (and gossip) can be found in Anna Nicole Smith's weekly page in the NATIONAL ENQUIRER

Scary Gore-Fest "ZOMBIETOWN"
in Post-Production

Below is our cool poster for "Zombietown", a co-production between Edgewood and Zapatos Para Todos productions that is now in post-production.  Writer/Director Damon LeMay has also been spotted around the studio covered in stage blood filming insert shots for the film, with a small crew, amping up the gore content. (And we just got the place cleaned up! Do you have any idea how hard it is to clean stage blood off a white wall, I mean it's sooo sticky and when it dries it's like cement... uh, but maybe I digress...) One thing is for sure, the film is lookin' AWESOME.

Hallmark Shelves Edgewood Disaster Movie

"Landslide", a TV movie that was to have premiered on the hallmark channel has been shelved temporarily out of respect for the victims of hurricane Katrina", said the outlet's programming chief, David Kenin. He said that story elements in the film "are vaguely and uncomfortably similar" to the Gulf Coast disaster. No new air date has been scheduled. Edgewood Studios and it's staff respect this decision and are working on an upcoming fund raising screener for charities that are benefiting "Katrina". At Edgewood our hearts go out to all affected by this disaster.

WESTVIEW DIGITAL SHOOTS IT'S TALENT ON EDGEWOOD'S STAGE A (AGAIN!)

One of our oldest friends, Producer/Director ANDREW WILSON who is also owner of the Commercial and Industrial Video Production Company WESTVIEW DIGITAL, was on Stage A this month shooting a commercial for a local cellular phone provider.  Mr. Wilson, who actually was one of other original employees of Edgewood before going onto greater things may be familiar to Edgewood fans as the Editor of "Diamond Run", Pressure Point", and many other early Edgewood features. WESTVIEW DIGITAL is Central Vermont's premiere provider of Video Production Services, if you are in the market for a National, Regional, or Local Commercial Spot, Industrial Video, or most any major video need.

LANDSLIDE BENEFIT PREMIERE A
"LANDSLIDE" SUCCESS"!

Our recent premiere of the Porchlight Pictures/Edgewood Studios Feature,
"LANDSLIDE" to benefit the Crossroads Arts Council was a smashing success with the council's highest attendance ever for their beloved "Trust Us" film series. The film, Directed by NEIL KINSELLA stars VINCENT SPANO, ALEXANDRA PAUL, and hundreds of Vermont and New England local actors (or should we say victims...) all caught in a horrific natural disaster.  The crowds LOVED the film, but we at Edgewood all had just as much fun putting the event on with the lead of Crossroads, to whom all proceeds benefited. If you live in Central Vermon " keep an eye on their "Trueries, run in cooperation with the owners of the Cinema North chain of theaters. What a great way to catch independent, Vermont-based or obscure films in a small town!

EDGEWOOD BIDS FAREWELL TO JAMES COBURN

All of us at Edgewood were lucky enough to work with the late cinema legend, James Coburn when he visited Vermont to film American Gun in conjunction with Edgewood Studios. James Coburn was a kind, professional actor, and we felt honored to work with him. Before his passing in November, his body of work included more than 100 movies including, The Great Escape (1963), In Like Flint (1967), The Muppet Movie (1979), Maverick (1994), and Affliction (1997) for which he won both the academy award and SAG award. All of us at Edgewood mourn the loss of Mr. Coburn with the rest of the film community.

THE NEWCOMERS Finally Hits The U.S.
on VHS and DVD!

The Edgewood family film favorite, "The Newcomers" has finally arrived on videocassette and DVD from MTI Home Video!  The long-anticipated release is a relief to staffers here at Edgewood; everyone here is tired of answering queries from fans demanding to know when the film will be out on video.  (We haven't had this much e-mail on a film since the rabid Billy Ray Cyrus fans were clamoring for "Radical Jack"!)  This heartwarming story of a family who has troubles adjusting to life after they move from Boston to the Vermont Countryside stars KATE BOSWORTH, JEFF FAHEY, MATT MC COY, BILLY KAY, and ELIZABETH DUFF.

GREGORY CREWDSON'S STAR FILLED
"DREAM HOUSE"
PREMIERES IN
NOVEMBER NEW YORK TIMES MAGAZINE

Our friend, the brilliant photographer GREGORY CREWDSON recently completed his most ambitious project to date.  A star-filled series of photographs for The New York Times Magazine featuring, GWYNETH PALTROW, JULIANNE MOORE, WILLIAM H. MACY, TILDA SWINTON, PHILLIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN, DYLAN BAKER, and the up-and-coming AGNES BRUCKNER.  The series, which premiered in the November 10th 2002 issue was shot over a month and a half primarily in a home here in Rutland owned by the parents of ALAN & SANDRA GARTNER, (Sandra is a talented actress and writer and frequent collaborator on many Edgewood projects)  The shoot's Director of Photography RICHARD SANDS basically empitied out Edgewood's lighting and grip facility (New England Light & Grip) and then some to produce truly stunning images.  Gregory's legendary attention to detail is evident in each photograph he produces, we highly suggest you take a look for his two books available in better book stores. (Make them order it if they don't have a copy! Trust us!)  Gregory's work is also exhibited in Museums around the world, with a display finishing up in the Guggenheim Museum in New York City this month. Currently he is in post-production of shooting the cast photo for the acclaimed HBO series "Six Feet Under".
