POST PRODUCTION OF "LAST LINK"
COMPLETED AT EDGEWOOD STUDIOS!!!!

The Last Link recently completed post production in Edgewood's state of the art editing suites. Click here for information on the suites. The Last Link tells the rich and dramatic story of a disappearing culture. For over 5000 years, shepherding has been a way of life in the French Pyrénées. Immigrants brought this culture to the American West in the early 20th Century. Less than a hundred years later, it is in danger of being absorbed into mainstream culture, both in France and the United States. The film shows the shepherds and their descendants as a proud and passionate people, whose spiritual and physical vitality is shaped by their connection to the mountains, be they those of the French Pyrénées or Wyoming's Big Horn Range. Tempered by extremes of weather and demands of self-reliance, they remain linked to an Old World Culture that offers a glimpse into the past where one can feel the passage of time, marked by ever-changing patterns in seasonal cycles. Interviews with immigrants and their descendants in Wyoming and California graphically illustrate the role of community in sustaining a transplanted identity within a larger Western American culture.

"AMERICAN GUN" TO PLAY AT FESTIVALS!

"American Gun," starring James Coburn, written and directed by Alan Jacobs, and filmed at Edgewood Studios will be playing in early October at the Hollywood Film Festival, and mid-October at the Hamptons Film Festival in NY. With more upcoming festivals and screenings to be announced shortly.
American Gun LLC says they are working diligently with their sales representatives Richard Abramowitz and publicists Murray Weissman and Dick Delson, to obtain a U.S. theatrical release and position James Coburn as an Oscar contender -- this time for BEST ACTOR (he won for "Affliction" several years ago as Best Supporting Actor).
The film and Coburn's performance received rave reviews in the trade papers following our debut at the Seattle Film Festival in June, which you can read on their website,
www.AmericanGunFilm.com .

"EMPTY" FILLS UP WITH AWARDS AND KUDOS

We just received an update on the award winning short film "Empty". Directed by Jared Micah Herman and Produced by Matt Wersinger, this 35mm, Black and White short was just chosen as Best Short Narrative at the Cinequest San Jose Film Festival and WorldFest in Houston where it won a Special Jury Award. It also just recently won a Wasserman Award at the First Run Festival as well a receiving Special Recognition from the American Society of Cinematographers. Oh, yea they also won a Student Emmy! FAMED PHOTOGRAPHER GREGORY CREWDSON MAKES EDGEWOOD HIS CREATIVE HOME

We have been honored over the past six months to have hosted numerous shoots for famed New York Photographer Gregory Crewdson. If you havent seen any of his work we highly recomend you check out his book "Dream Of Life". (He has another one on the way soon!)His stunning use of set design and mise-en-scene, shot on large format film, will leave you re-evaluating what you think about life. Gregory takes the place over when he is here, putting more detailed attention and care into a single frame that we have for most movies! We feel this is a perfect example of what Edgewood can offer; a creative oasis where distraction is put aside, and every production resource maximized.
Thanks Greg! Hope we can make it to his opening in NYC!
EDGEWOOD LIGHTS UP NORA JACOBSON'S DV FEATURE "NOTHING LIKE DREAMING"
We are proud to be a part of Vermont filmmaker Nora Jacobson's ("My Mother's Early Lovers","Delivered Vacant") most recent feature film; "Out Of Her Mind". Nora and Cinematographer Lasse Toft shot for over six weeks on the DV format with a full "film-style" crew. DV was perfectly suited to Jacobsen, who's meticulous filmmaking style often demands many exacting takes and reflective approach to editing. DV gave this talented filmmaker the needed creative "breathing space" and is becoming a popular choice for film artists lookng for a way to mount large projects on limited budgets while maintaining creativity. Toft used a mix of Edgewood's HMI and Tungsten lighting to create a unique look that belies the films budget. We will post info on the film's release as it becomes available, in the meantime, we suggest you check out Jacobsen's previous feature, the critical favorite; "My Mother's Early Lovers" now available on
BUDWEISER CLYDESDALES RETURN TO
VERMONT For SUPERBOWL SPOT

Edgewood was pleased to provide Production Trailer rentals to the production of the latest Budweiser Clydesdales commercial partially shot in Vermont. The Clydesdales tromping thru the winter snow has always been a holiday commercial staple and have historically been filmed here in the Green Mountain State. This time the spot included a heartfelt bow to the victims and heroes of September 11th that premiered during this year's Super Bowl. The shoot was a cold one and Director and staff stayed toasty inside our winterized Production Trailers. This Buds for those Amazing Clydesdales!

High Art "Conference Of The Birds"
Shoots with Edgewood
Internationally Acclaimed Artist Shirin Neshat (seen in the 2000 Whitney Biennial and 1999 Venice Biennale), Composer and Performance Artist Sussan Deyhim, Writer Shoja Azari, and Cinematographer Ghasem Ebrahimian have just completed a stunning collaboration, "Conference Of The Birds".
Using Edgewood's Lighting and Grip, Camera Cranes, Craft Services and Crew, the Artists have created a stunning piece of high art that incorporates, cinematography, choreography, and the ephemeral elements of live performance art. We are very excited to be involved in a production of this caliber, and will keep you posted on scheduled showings in New York City and Los Angeles.
Filmmaker Todd Wheel's "The Image"
Finds it's "Voice" at Edgewood
Here's a story that will make all you filmmakers cringe... Writer/Director Todd Wheel had just completed shooting his short film "The Image". He had gotten great performances from his actors, excellent cinematography and good field sound on a low budget shoot. He sent his footage and sound masters off to a certain lab (we won't mention the lab's name but don't worry, they are are out of business now) and get this: THEY LOST HIS SOUND REELS! Faced with no good way to get money from the lab for re-shoots (read your lab agreements, they are always indemnified to high heaven) and without money to reshoot the project himself, he turned to Edgewood. Now, Todd is a good friend of ours and we believe he is a talented filmmaker, and it's hard enough to make your film without the lab losing your sound, so we had to help. Todd and Sound Mixer Bob Gregory put their heads together and, armed with a DAT recorder and some studio time, they are re-recording all of the dialog tracks for the film. This fall, Bob will load all of these tracks into our Pro-Tools Suite, and with Todd's supervision, bring his vision (uh, sonically speaking) back to life. Hopefully we will be seeing "The Image" at Festivals soon... Hey, what a great candidate for Vermont Public Television's "Reel Vermont", and what a story!

WRITER/DIRECTOR MICHAEL FISHER'S
"BURGUNDY" POSTS AT EDGEWOOD
Award-Winning Writer/Director Michael Fisher recently spent the last month in Edgewood's AVID Suite A working on his latest film, "Burgundy". A dark, gothic parable with an elaborate animatic feline as it's protagonist, the film again showcases Fisher's unique vision. With lush cinematography from Jeff Farber and an orchestral score that features works of the classical composer Greig, "Burgundy" is a real treat. A meticulous filmmaker, Fisher even used the Avid to paint out miniscule imperfections (dirt/dropouts)
frame-by-frame after editing.
Keep an eye out for this film!

The film, which chronicles the effect of firearms on society through the eyes of a grieving father, stars JAMES COBURN, VIRGINA MADSEN and BARBARA BAIN. Producer BRENT MORRIS noted that "Without Edgewood, we wouldn't have been able to get this film made in New England. Edgewood allowed us take advantage of numerous local contacts as well as offering low-cost production facilities and equipment." Vermont Film Commissioner LORANNE TURGEON was also instrumental in
bringing "American Gun" to the state, adding, "This is a perfect match, "American Gun" was a film that needed a solid base camp in a gorgeous rural location. Edgewood solved numerous problems for the production while offering production facilities normally found only in large metro markets."

"JEEZUM CROW" Starts it shoot with Edgewood

Martin GuiGui of "Jeezum Crow"
Writer/Director MARTIN GUIGUI'S ("Wedding Band") latest feature film, the slice-of life comedy "JEEZUM CROW", recently completed the first leg of its multi-season shoot utilizing a full Camera and L&G package from Edgewood. Internationally Acclaimed Cinematographer MASSIMO ZERI (a favorite of both Federico Fellini and Paul Mazursky) and Award Winning Cameraman LUCIO OLIVIERI utilized a Full Ultracam Package with Canon Speed Lenses. Lighting "Wizard" MARTY SWOBODA ("Titanic", "Deep Impact", "NewsRadio") utilized Edgewood's "Big Box" L&G package. "It was extremely cool that we could find everything we needed at Edgewood" remarked star/producer RUSTIN BRANAMAN. "It saved us dollars and, equally important, time." Director Guigui noted, "It meant a lot to me that Edgewood went out of their way to give us their time and expertise." Producer JOHN NICHOLS added, "This is how indies keep strong, working together."
"ICEBREAKER" NOW AT BLOCKBUSTER VIDEO

Edgewood Studios, the Vermont-based mini-studio founded by Filmmakers David Giancola and Peter Beckwith announced the release of their largest production, "Icebreaker" at Blockbuster Video stores nationwide. The feature film, starring Sean Astin ("Rudy", "Courage Under Fire", and the upcoming "Lord of the Rings"), Bruce Campbell ("Congo", "The Evil Dead"), and Stacy Keach (T.V.'s "Mike Hammer", "Escape from L.A.) , was shot on location in Vermont at the Killington Ski Resort. In the tightly paced action-thriller, Ski Patrol officer Matt Foster (Sean Astin) must save his fiancé Meg (Suzanne Turner), and her father (Stacy Keach) from a marauding band of terrorists led by Greig (Bruce Campbell) who have taken over the mountain. The terrorists have holed up with a group of hostages in the summit restaurant while they retrieve stolen nuclear materials from a plane that has crashed into the mountain. They are well trained, well armed, and operate with military precision. But Matt has one thing going for him. He knows the mountain like the back of his hand.Filming "Icebreaker" was a struggle against the elements for Director Giancola and Producer Beckwith. When principal photography took place last winter, the crew was forced to shoot much of the film on the very top of Killington Mountain, as snow at lower altitudes was scarce. The production took a break over the holiday season and returned only to be faced with constant blizzard conditions and below-freezing temperatures. "With three units filming simultaneously, we had a lot of problems matching shots between units. We used a lot of fake snow early on, then found ourselves brushing snow off of sets to match earlier footage. It was a nightmare!" Recalls Producer Beckwith. Director Giancola noted "Although the film was difficult to make and the scope of the production was huge, we created something very cool. When was the last time you saw a ski resort based film that was not set at the western ski areas?" The team's hard work seems to have paid off. "Icebreaker" has been a solid hit on television and video worldwide and is the largest domestic release yet for an Edgewood film.
A premiere on the HBO premium cable channel is set for this winter.
NEIL BENEDICT'S "THE WEDDING GUEST" COMPLETES

The cast and crew got a first look of the completed film at a special sneak preview held in Edgewood's screening room. "The Wedding Guest is now headed for the festival circuit and plans of a Vermont premiere are in the works!
